“Crystal Title Wave” silkscreen print on fabric

Seeing an already over saturated print market, I thought, “well how could this be a financially questionable idea?”

A project that has been in the works for over 2 years is in the home stretch & will be available soon. The base image is from an old shirt of a syndicated heavy metal radio station called Z-Rock that I bought when I was 14 at the now defunct record store chain, Title Wave.

It’s a 1-color silkscreen printed by Burlesque of North America on repurposed vintage black T-shirts. I asked them to print my design inconsistently so some images look much cleaner than others. On top of that, I later took a random batch of them & further embellished them with a variety of methods like sanding, holes, greasy stains, bleach stains, road salt stains... well, you get the picture. Basically, the worse a print looks, the more work I’ve done on it.

The fabric is stretched like a traditional canvas with an additional layer of polar fleece backing it for added durability & overall aesthetics.
Each is 12”x 12” & the regular edition is limited to just 78 prints. 3 additional Printers Proofs were made & 4 Artist Proofs, 3 of which are still wearable as T-shirts.
